Ziggy Lives: The 1990 Rock Fantasy Comic of your Dreams

As the new Ziggy comic arrives in the mail, I thought it’d be a good time to share this magnificent Bowie “Rock Fantasy” comic from 1990. It actually reminds me a lot of those indie Dungeons & Dragons zines that would circulate around colleges in the 80’s, but instead of trolls and elf maidens, this time it’s their favorite rock n roll icons.

Suffice to say, the “wowie-zowie” is pretty strong in this one. The art looks like it would be right at home on the wall of a skating rink, and yet I am utterly transfixed by it. Overall I give it a 7/10 for Ziggy’s figure alone. I did not read the story so I cannot comment on that, but Ziggy is appropriately ripped and that is enough for me. The comic has been included below, so feel free to leave your feedback.

In a completely unironic way though, I do think it’s pretty cool that these people took the time and effort to make something like this. And they were clearly having a lot of fun with it, which definitely shows.

Next time I will have to cover the fan comic about Bowie and Angie’s divorce. Because yes, that exists.
